This Privacy Policy explains how Halftone Studio ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website, free resources, and the courses we sell. By using the site you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Who we are

Halftone Studio is an online art education studio operated as a sole proprietorship based in the United States. You can reach us about anything in this policy at contact@halftonestudio.art.

Information we collect

• Account information. When you buy a course or create an account, we store your email address and, if you provide it, your name. You set your own password, which is stored securely (hashed) by our authentication provider.
• Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details. We receive limited information from Stripe such as your email, the amount, the country, and whether the payment succeeded.
• Newsletter and lead magnets. If you sign up for our newsletter or request a free download, we store your email address to send you the resource and occasional updates.
• Course progress. If you own a course, we store which lessons you have marked complete so your progress is saved.
• Usage data. We collect privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics about page visits and performance. We do not use these to build advertising profiles.

How we use your information

• To provide and maintain your account and course access.
• To process payments and deliver what you purchased.
• To send the free resources and newsletters you asked for, and important account or service emails.
• To respond to your questions and support requests.
• To understand how the site is used and to improve it.
• To protect the site against fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.

Service providers

We share information with trusted providers only as needed to run the service. These include:

• Stripe: payment processing.
• Supabase: accounts and authentication.
• MailerLite: newsletter and email delivery.
• Skiv (skiv.com): video hosting and playback for course lessons.
• Sanity: content management for the site.
• Vercel: website hosting and privacy-friendly analytics.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms. Some are based in the United States, so your information may be processed there.

Cookies and tracking

We keep this minimal. We use a small number of cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to remember your light or dark theme preference. Our analytics are designed to be privacy-friendly and do not rely on advertising cookies. If you sign up through our newsletter forms, MailerLite may record that a form was viewed so we can measure interest.

How long we keep your data

We keep account and purchase information for as long as you have an account or as needed to provide lifetime access to courses you bought, and as required for tax and legal reasons. You can ask us to delete your account at any time, subject to records we are legally required to keep.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email us at contact@halftonestudio.art and we will respond within a reasonable time. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in any email.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reputable providers and reasonable measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and secure handling of credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date above. Significant changes will be communicated where appropriate.
